Braces can be a handful at times, especially when they give you constant bad breath. If you are one who suffers with bad breath while you are aligning your smile, here are some things you can do to help:
· Brush your teeth: Brushing your teeth after each meal will dramatically help with your bad breath. Brushing will remove the food particles that are wedged between your orthodontic appliance and teeth. We understand that brushing frequently could be inconvenient, but it is easier if you pack a travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste with you at all times.
· Floss your smile: Flossing will also help with the bad breath because it will remove the food particles your toothbrush couldn’t reach. So, make sure you floss after you brush and you are gentle around the gum line as you do so.
· Use mouthwash: Mouthwash is a great oral hygiene product that will finish cleaning your smile and will kill any bacteria that are causing the bad breath. Just make sure you use the right type of mouthwash while you rinse. You don’t want to use a wash that could damage your teeth or orthodontic appliance.
Generally, bad breath occurs when you have poor oral hygiene. When you eat food, the particles get stuck between your teeth and braces and they send an odor into your mouth. If you don’t brush, floss, and rinse regularly, you will experience bad breath each day. So, it’s time to improve your oral hygiene routine and take care of your smile.
